Academic activities are to commence for schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday, October 12 while boarding students are expected to resume on Sunday, October 11.
The announcement was made by the FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello on Thursday while briefing journalists in Abuja.
The Minister said that the guidelines for the reopening of the schools will soon be out and the academic calendar will cover the third term that was not done due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that the exit classes in FCT did not record any case during the reopening of schools and is confident that once schools reopen, the officials and pupils will ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
Last week, the Federal Government directed unity schools in the country to reopen on October 12.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, announced the reopening of the learning centres and he said the decision was reached after due dialogues with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) and stakeholders on COVID-19.
