Gas explosion occurred again today, the 8th of October, in Baruwa area of Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State. It was noted that the last gas explosion was recorded in Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos state on 24 September.
The explosion, which originated from the Best Roof Cooking Gas, happened around 5.45 am and was decimated around 8.38 by men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
The total number of lives lost in the explosion has been confirmed to be 8 according to the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
The spokesman stated that the explosion happened, and the agency initiated a response plan. He, therefore, affirmed that 8 deaths were recorded in the explosion, 25 houses, mostly bungalows, 16 lock-up shops, and one primary school were involved. He also said that firefighters and rescue teams are still working at the incident scene. Gas emission has been identified and controlled. Damping down is ongoing.
He said that Post-disaster assessment will be carried out and further updates will be given.
